Before veterinary medicine, she worked as a Process Development R&D Chemical Engineer in the Biotechnology industry for four years. Stanford University awarded her Chemical Engineering Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in 1990 and Master of Science (MS) degree in 1991. Yu-Speight attended Texas A&M University’s veterinary school from 1995-1999 where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. She helped us navigate through some very tough times with our french bulldog who developed complications from cataract surgery. Before her residency, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Cornell in 1999-2000. Yu-Speight is one of the most caring, conscientious and knowledgeable doctors I have ever met. She joined the faculty at Cornell after completing her residency in 2003. She trained at Cornell University from 2000-2003 in veterinary ophthalmology where she worked in both the small and large animal hospitals on small, exotic and large animal species including dogs, cats, horses, cows, birds, alpacas, reptiles, small mammals, goats, sheep, and other exotic species.
